How to use our free booklet maker tool

Turning your PDF into a booklet only takes a few steps. If you're not sure what a setting means, you can usually leave it as it is.

Before you upload your PDF

There is nothing special you need to do before uploading your file. Just make sure:

  • Remove blank pages you don’t want in the final booklet
  • Check your page order is correct in the original file
  • Make sure the file isn’t password protected — our tool can’t open encrypted PDFs

You don't need to change the page count. If extra pages are needed to make the booklet fold correctly, the tool handles that for you.

  1. 01

    Upload your PDF

    • Click Upload and choose your PDF. You can also drag and drop the file onto the page.
    • Your PDF stays on your device and is not uploaded to a server.
    • Once your file is loaded, click Next.
  2. 02

    Choose your source settings

You'll see a few settings for your original PDF. Most people can leave these alone.

    Pages

Choose which pages you want to use. Select All Pages if you want the whole PDF. Use Custom Range only if you want specific pages.

    Rotation

Fixes sideways pages. Use No modification for a normal PDF. Odd/even modes rotate facing pages opposite ways — helpful for some scanned books.

    Page splitting

Only useful if one PDF page contains two separate pages, such as a scanned open book. Leave it on Do not split for a normal PDF.

Not sure? Leave these settings as they are and click Next.

  3. 03

    Choose your layout settings

This is where you choose the paper you will print on and how many pages go on each sheet.

    Paper size

Choose the same paper size you will use in your printer. Use A4 if you normally print on A4. Use Letter for standard US Letter paper.

    Rotate 90°

Leave it off unless your PDF is made for landscape or wide pages.

    Pages per sheet

    • 2 pages per sheet: Standard booklet size — best for most people
    • 4 pages per sheet: Smaller booklet
    • 8 or 16 pages: Very small booklet

Not sure? Choose 2 pages per sheet.

You can also check the preview to see how your booklet will look before downloading it.

  4. 04

    Download your booklet PDF

When everything looks right, click Download. The tool creates a new PDF with the pages arranged in the right order for booklet printing.

Print your booklet

When you open the new PDF, use these settings when printing:

  1. Turn on Two-Sided or Duplex printing.
  2. Choose Short Edge.
  3. Use the same paper size you selected in the tool.
  4. Choose Actual Size or 100% for the scale.
  5. Print, fold the pages in half, and staple them.
